Long Shot (2019) ★★★ 1/2

Oh it’s been many moons since a romantic comedy has graced the hallowed mics of Fresh Hop Cinema. I think this flick is an excellent visit to the genre. I found that the dialogue between Theron and Rogen felt very genuine and well written. The film is somewhat formulaic and at the same time feels new. Full of tropes that could seem done before but in fact feel kind of fresh, maybe because this movie is made with a modern point of view. It is sugary sweet and has the lingering odor of pot smoke. It’s a rom com for a millennial generation that is opinionated, political, woke, open minded, and doesn’t take itself too seriously. Long Shot blends some heavy issues into its cocktail of very adult humor, romance, morals, the two-party system, and treacherous webcam exploits.
