“Double West Coast IPA with CTZ, Nugget, Simcoe, and Mosaic Hops”

This is a better Double IPA than the average. It’s incredibly smooth with a good amount of hop bite. I’m trepidatious in approaching some of these older IPAs because they can often venture into the “cardboardy” territory. This one doesn’t and it’s three months old. It’s a straightforward, no frills IPA .

We’re drinking this three months old and even with that, it’s surprisingly hoppy and bitey. There is a sweaty sneaker funkiness to this; and not necessarily in a bad way. It’s a very aggressive and hefty beer but I do enjoy it. The body is mellow and not too heavy (especially given the abv) but the hoppiness does get overwhelming after the first couple drinks. The caveat/saving grace is that it’s exactly what I was expecting based on the description, so personally, it’s a well-made beer that’s just a bit much for my mouth.
