“Mango Sticky Rice inspired sour ale with mango, flaked rice, and coconut cream.”
Jonny: 7.3/10
This is one of the most disturbing beers to look at that I've ever seen. It looks like it should be emitting noxious gas, but I like it. I love the coconut creaminess. It tastes really nice. It’s not overwhelming anywhere in any capacity. I think the most overwhelming thing about this beer is just the way it looks but once you can get past that, it’s a nice kettle sour. It’s not too abrasive, not too acidic. It’s got nice sweetness to balance out the tartness. I mean overall it’s a pretty pleasant drinking experience. It’s just it is a nightmare to look at.

I don’t think I like this. There’s a disconnect for me between flavor and body. Some of the creaminess that I’m getting from the body is also there in flavor and I think it serves to mask some of those tart notes from the mango. The creaminess and the sweet notes from the mango kind of sit in one corner and in the other corner is the weight of the cream and and biting tartness of the mango plus this really aggressive carbonation and they’re just not solidifying into a singular drinking experience for me.
So what’s happening is I’m drinking and I’m getting hit immediately with the mango which is lovely. Carbonation; a little strong. Then my mouth is just blanketed by the creaminess which does two things. One, it softens the bitter mango blow a little but it also just overwhelms every bit of the drinking experience by the end of it. It’s certainly fun to try, but at the price point and with the knowledge I have now, I would probably want to split this 12oz can with like four people if I were to buy it again. Two ounces of this, and I’m good.
