There’s huge notes of toffee and caramel on the nose. Just on scent alone, this smells like a barleywine. On the first drink; this is a LOT. Not terribly viscous but I’m not necessarily expecting that since it’s only a porter. The alcohol heat lingers a bit after the first swallow. Far and away the most interesting element of this is the inclusion of the candycap mushroom which adds and incredible earthy dark sweetness like bark from a maple tree rolled around on a forest floor in the Pacific Northwest. There’s some spice and brown sugar on the backend and the little carbonation there is dissolves away into a mist by the end.
